THE SECOND PAINTING ON PIAZZA ARMERINA ENNA OF 1626
Detail of the painting 1626-1641
This is the second view that we have of our city.
The period is that at the beginning of the ' 600 and not differs much from before that I did already see, partly because the view is always from the village Casalotto.
This view is found in the painting that the artist Antonino Cinniardi made in honor of Saint Andrew Avellino between 1626 and 1641.
It's been almost 15 years since they arrived from Naples two fathers Ta with a relic of blessed father Andrea Avellino (1521-1608), comprising a tuft of beard, who donated to the barons of s. Andrea priest piazzese Trigona upper cone.
This clump became means of many healings and even, in 1624, protects the city from the plague that is making havoc throughout the island.
All the people of plataea is grateful to blessed Teatino in 1626 is declared 2° Patron of town after St. Vincent Ferrer.
It is on this occasion that commissioned the picture that we see today, after restoration completed in November 2011, the Pinacoteca Comunale di via Monte.
The restoration of the painting, which measures 256 x 185 cm, handed in an even more pronounced a "photo" of plataea or Chiàzza, as it was called then, where you recognize featured the port of Saint John the Baptist with right the commandery.
In the Centre the Church of Santo Stefano built a few years ago and still missing the façade with the campanile (as we see it today will be completed in 1742).
As for all the other hand, we can say that it is exactly equal to the first view, except for two details.
The first is the presence of the Spire of the Bell Tower, right in the middle of the drawing, the Church and monastery of St. John the Evangelist now missing.
The second detail is the existence of an ecclesiastical procession, the head of which already lies in what we now call via Garibaldi.
While the next part is still behind a sacred symbol with golden rays (perhaps the Corpus Christi) at Patrisanto or plan Theatines, now piazza martyrs of Hungary, where at the Center there is a big cross with extended shank.
