ST MARK'S CAMPANILE IN VENICE VENETO
The Bell Tower of San Marco reaches 98.6 metres and is one of the most high steeples dâ Italy, together with the basilica is the symbol of Venezia.
Si rises, isolated, in a corner of St Mark's square in front of the basilica. Simple form, it consists of a barrel of bricks, grooved, with a side of 12 meters and 50 meters high, above which is the arched belfry, housing.
The belfry is in turn topped by a nut, on whose faces are shown alternately two lions going and the female figures of Venice (Justice).
All this is complemented by the pyramidal Spire, on whose Summit, mounted on a rotating platform to act as a wind vane, is placed the golden statue of the Archangel Gabriele.
The base of the building is decorated on the side facing the basilica, from the loggetta del Sansovino.
