THE AMPHITHEATER CAMPANO
The Amphitheater Campano, second in size only at the Colosseum, is a Roman amphitheater located in the city of Capua, today Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
It was home to the first and most revering school of gladiators.
Here the Spartacus gladiator drove in 73 AD. the uprising that for two years kept under pressure in Rome in the years immediately preceding the first triumvirate.
From December 2014, the museum, the amphitheater and the miter plant have been managed by the Museum of Campania in Campania. Spartacus was forced to fight inside the Campanian amphitheater against fierce beasts and other gladiators, as it was in use at that time, to entertain people and aristocracy.
